Mark Robert - Baseball was a part of Mark's life - starting when he was 5 years old and hit 14 HRs off the tee in tee-ball. He began playing "live pitch" ball at age 10 and was denied a spot on the All-Star team due to his young age. At age 11 he made the All-Star team and hit 10 HR's. At age 12 he helped his team win the San Diego All-Star tournament while hitting 19 HR's. Robert began playing Legion baseball at age 14 and helped his team win the city championship 3 years in a row.  At Mira Mesa High School (San Diego) he was provided an opportunity to learn to play catcher after his freshman year. He took up the challenge to great success. His junior year his team won the 1985 CA Interscholastic Championship while being named to the 1st team All-CIF catcher. His senior year saw the team finish as a semi-finalist for the CIF playoff, he was named Eastern League Player of the Year and was a CIF Honorable Mention Player of the Year. Mark played for 2 years at Mesa Jr College (San Diego) winning All-league Honors twice. He then found himself at the University of Wyoming as the starting catcher in his junior and senior years. He was a part of the team that was ranked in the top 25 for the first time in school history in 1990. While in Laramie he was named to the 3rd team All-American (Jr year); All-WAC team and player of the year (C) in the WAC (Sr Year). He still holds the school record with a .411 batting average. After college, he reached out to coach Tagg Lain and began coaching in 1992. During his 27 years of coaching in Cheyenne, he held various roles (including coaching the 2002 Prep state championship team) and coaching 1 year in the Raptors organization. Mark loved baseball but it was the coaching and teaching the sport to young men that he loved the most, including the lifelong relationships he built. Mark passed away in 2019 after a battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Kimberly, son Matthew and daughter Alexandra.
