Post 6 is thrilled to have Ethan Casey back serving in his role as The Post 6 pitching coach this season. This will be Coach Casey’s second season fulfilling that role with the varsity staff and his 5th overall. Coach Casey served as a pitching coach throughout the program at both the Indians and Prep levels before moving up to the varsity last season. Ethan had adopted a very laid back cerebral approach to working with the Sixer pitchers. Which is no surprise with Ethan having pitched for the legendary pitching coach Jade Lain for multiple seasons, who used a very similar approach to molding the pitching staff. Coach Casey played for Post 6 from 2014-2017. In that time Ethan’s clubs won three state titles and built on and enhanced the culture here for Post 6. This is what Coach Casey had to say about what Post 6 and coaching means to him: “Post 6 is a second family to me. These guys are the brothers I never had. They always have your back no matter what, whether it’s on the field or in life. And these guys are my family forever. The reason why I got into coaching is to give back to my community that has given so much to me. I really coach for the kids. I love to share my knowledge of the game with them no matter their age and I continue to learn things from them as well. Coaching and competing is one way I can escape the stresses of life, and just enjoy being in the dugout or between the lines with my guys!” Under Coach Casey’s tutelage in 2023, the Post 6 pitching staff had historical success. The staff pitched 534.1 innings while giving up 182 earned runs for a 2.38 staff era. They had 664 strikeouts compared to only 237 walks on the season to lead Post 6 to a 67-17 season, leading the way for a first ever Northwest Regional title, an American Legion World Series berth, and a top 4 finish in the country. Post 6 is happy to have Ethan back in the dugout this season and can’t wait to see how he continues to help develop the Sixer Staff!
