Post 6 is happy to have Coach Josiah Ward back for his 10th year helping the Post 6 program! Coach Ward will continue his role as a roving pitching instructor, assisting the development of Post 6 pitchers. Josiah has 11 years of coaching under his belt with 9 years with Post 6 in various roles as well as 2 years with the SBA Cubs out of Olive Branch, MS. Coach Ward has been vital in the growth of many previous Sixers staffs and teams with his work for the WYCO Baseball Academy over the last 9 years. Before Josiah came to Cheyenne, he played collegiately at the NAIA, JUCO and D1 levels. Coach Ward also played professionally for High Desert Yardbirds in 2017. Coach Ward on why he came to Cheyenne to be a SIXER: “Post 6 is a culture of winning and excellence that goes back decades. It is the reason I moved to Cheyenne in 2014. I had to be a part of it. We are a hard-nosed and fundamentally elite ball club that plays with a chip on our shoulder. Being a coach in this program has brought me memories and relationships that I’ll have forever.” Coach Ward has given so much to not just Post 6, but the community of Cheyenne since moving here. When asked why he loves to coach, Josiah said the following: “I coach because I want to give kids the things I never had. I was not a natural talent. I graduated high school throwing 83 mph and finished my career topping 94 mph. I had to develop myself over years and years to earn every single opportunity I had. I think this is why I can coach well is because I have been that guy that had to become something more. When I see a kid who reminds me of myself back then, hungry and willing to do what it takes, I’m going to give that kid everything I have.” Coach Ward is supported by his family and wanted to say this about their support: “I have to thank my wife Noel, my son Charlie (2) and my daughter Harper (1) for their support in everything I do, but especially for being able to give the time I do to help these guys accomplish their goals.” Post 6 is lucky to have Coach Ward and his family a part of The Sixer Family!
