Colter McAnelly, If he had only pitched, or hit for Post 6, he would’ve been one of the all-time greats at that. Fortunately for Post 6, he did all 3 for his squad for 4 seasons! Offensively, was a lifetime .380 hitter in over 300 games played at shortstop. He carried an impressive .495 on base percentage while recording 345 hits, 20 homeruns, 281 RBIs, and over 300 runs scored. From when he was 15 years old, he held down the shortstop position and hit in the middle of the Post 6 batting order. Defensively, in that time, Colter had over 900 chances fielded a 93% clip. Colter was a part of turning 106 double plays and allowed his teammates and coaches to relax when a ball was hit anywhere near him for 4 seasons. McAnelly also had the calming effect on his teammates when he took the bump. In 269 innings pitched Colter struck out 474 hitters out while only walking 71. What’s equally impressive is he gave up only 41 earned runs in his career while winning 30 games and saving 10 more. That led to a career 1.12 era. His dominance on the mound continued in the postseason. Colter threw 57.1 innings, giving up 26 hits and 5 earned runs. He earned 4 wins and 4 saves while striking out 102 which included a 19 strikeout performance in the 2022 state title game. In the 2023 run to the final 4 at the World Series, McAnelly got a win at the state tournament throwing 6.1 while striking out 15. Colter then went to the regional tournament and threw 10.1 innings, giving up 4 hits, no runs, struck out 13 to earn a save and a CG win to help Post 6 win their first ever regional title. At the World Series he had some bad luck and didn’t earn a win, but threw 10.2 innings giving up only 4 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 16. The accolades were a plenty in Colter’s Post 6 career and he continued that baseball career at the university of Utah. He came out of the bullpen for his first appearance in opening weekend where he gave up no hits or runs helping Utah to a 3-1 opening weekend record. We want to wish Colter and his Utes teammates good fortune as they look forward to the season!
