Cheyenne Post 6 is excited to welcome Brad Barker III as the new Sixer Skipper, a move that underscores the deep and longstanding relationship Barker has had with the organization. Starting his coaching journey with Post 6 back in 2004, Barker has left an indelible mark on the teams he managed, notably the Prep and Hawks, steering them to state championships in almost every season up until 2013. After a brief hiatus, his leadership, knowledge, and passion for the game were further honed through his work with fellow Post 6 Hall of Fame coaches Tagg Lain and the late Mark Robert, contributing significantly to the success of the WYCO Select squad. Barker's return to Post 6 in 2021 to manage the Hawks was a much-celebrated event, one that was capped off by his squad finishing in the final four and being named the AA Wyoming Coach of the Year in 2024 . His commitment to the community and the sport extends beyond the field, having invested considerable time in developing baseball and softball hitters in the Capital City. Barker's own illustrious playing career with Post 6 laid the groundwork for his exemplary coaching career. With a .404 batting average, 21 home runs, and holding the single season home-run record for several years, his contributions were vital to securing the state championship title in 2001 – the first since the early '90s. Barker's journey from a player at Northeastern Junior College and Southwest Baptist University, to a 2018 Hall of Fame induction for Post 6 is a testament to his dedication and the respect he commands within the baseball community. As Barker steps up as the new Skipper, the future of Post 6 Baseball looks as promising as ever, poised for continued success under the guidance of one of its most celebrated sons. The legacy of excellence and the spirit of winning that Barker embodies are set to inspire the next generation of players and uphold the rich tradition of Post 6 baseball.
