Post 6 is ecstatic to welcome back Coach Chace Tavelli as the Post 6 Indians Manager in 2024! Coach Tavelli has spent many years in the Post 6 program. From 1987-1989 Tavelli played shortstop for the Hawks and Sixers (including batting leadoff for the Sixers in ‘89). Though he was known for his outstanding range and glove in the field, Tavelli was the leading base stealer for the Sixers in ‘88 and ‘89. Tavelli then went on to play college baseball at Colby CC in Kansas before returning to The Six where he went on to coach both the Hawks and Sixers throughout the 1990s. Then Coach Tavelli was tasked with one of the more impactful roles in the program’s history. In 2001, Chace and fellow Hall of Famer, Mark Robert, took charge of the first Post 6 Prep team in program history. That year they competed at the A level and finished State Runner Up to the Cheyenne Post 6 Hawks. Chace coached the Prep from 2001-2004 while helping propel and expand the program for years to come. Tavelli was part of Manager Tagg Lain’s coaching staff when they were the Regional runner-up in 2006 before taking his coaching acumen to the softball diamond in 2010. Coach Tavelli has coached ages 8-18 in softball while still volunteering currently as an assistant for the Central High softball team. In 2017, Chace came back to Post 6 and coached with Manager Ty Lain’s State Championship squad. Coach Tavelli has mentored and coached many current and former Post 6 coaches in the program, with many of them crediting him for much of what they preach on the field. Chace was inducted into the Post 6 Hall of Fame in 2023 for all his hard work and dedication to the program. Chace is supported by his wife Ali and daughter Alina.
