Next up on our Collegiate Sixer Spotlight Gridiron edition is former Sixer shortstop, Dawson Macleary! Dawson spent 2 years as the starting shortstop for Post 6 while also providing 50 plus innings on the mound for The Capital City Crew. During Dawson’s two seasons manning the middle infield and mound for Post 6, his teams went a combined 116-45. In 2018 Dawson’s squad went 65-20 and secured the programs 18th state title. In 2019 Macleary and his Sixer teammates went 51-25 but decided to forego the state tournament as they qualified as the first ever team from Wyoming to earn a Connie Mack World Series berth. Dawson was known for his sure handed play at the shortstop position but drove in 49 RBIs while scoring 52 runs in his time with Post 6 . He also logged 54.2 innings while winning 7 games and pitching to a 3.69 era. Macleary went on from Post 6 to play quarterback for the Minot State University Beavers. Dawson has played in 26 games as the starting QB for the Beavers accumulating 3,751 yards and 16 TDs in the air. Dawson added 453 yards rushing with 3 more TDs on the ground. Dawson has always been a quiet leader who, despite playing premier positions on both the diamond and gridiron, always put the team before personal accolades.
