Wyatt Haught only played one year for Post 6, but he made a serious impact that season. Wyatt came to Post 6 from Scottsbluff in 2022 knowing he had to work hard to earn a role for a very veteran squad filled with talent. Wyatt did just that by finding different ways to help his team win and coming to work day in and day out. Wyatt impacted the game in so many ways in 2022. Offensively for Post 6 he had a knack for creating production with his selfless approach. Wyatt hit .345 that season, turning his singles in to doubles with his 89% success rate as a base stealer. But what made Haught special is even when his at bats didn’t end in hits, he still produced for his teammates. Between his keen eye and patience combined with his refusal to let the pitcher move his feet and wear pitches, Wyatt had an impressive .520 on base percentage. His team approach at the plate really showed in the postseason run that ended with a top 16 finish in the country. In that 2022 postseason, Wyatt went 4 for 18 at the plate with 6 walks and 6 hit by pitches. He also scored 6 runs and drove runs without recording a hit in three of those postseason games. On the mound, all Wyatt did was win. Haught went 9-0 on the mound for Post 6 on the year, throwing 57.2 innings and striking out 73 hitters. Wyatt ended the season with a 1.34 ERA. Again, in the postseason, Wyatt carved opponents up helping Post 6 to a deep run. Between starts and coming out of the pen, Wyatt threw 8 innings in 3 appearances giving up only 3 hits and 1 earned run. Wyatt also found ways to impact the game defensively by locking down his spot in the outfield and fielding his position on the mound. Between the two, Wyatt only committed 1 error for a .986 fielding %. Wyatt went on from Post 6 to pitch at Scottsdale CC. He is in his second season at Scottsdale. We want to wish Wyatt and his team luck as they work to find anyway to win!
